WE THE PEOPLE served as the main text for my Civics class in Spring, 2020. I teach ELL to adults at Gateway Technical College in Kenosha, WI. The class met for 1.5 hours twice a week for 12 weeks (total 36 hours of instruction). The text offered a great selection of topics for our weekly lessons to help me cover our curriculum. The information provided was accurate and up to date. In combination with video clips to illustrate various points, the 100 questions for the citizenship test, this text offered a wonderful structure for our Civics class. Four pages in length, each unit offered some new vocabulary to study, along with a page of text informing and teaching students about history, government, elections, and other topics. Two pages of exercises were perfect for reinforcement and homework. This spring, 2020 the civics information we learned was especially relevant during our election season in Wisconsin!
