Contacting Our Overseas Distributors

Specify AIR or SURFACE shipping, or we will send surface.

Pay in U.S. dollars only, using Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express, or a check drawn on a U.S. bank, or a U.S. postal money order. Do not send checks drawn on foreign banks.

Fastest foreign service - for air or surface shipping: Use Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express

For surface shipping: Prepay 50% of list price book total ($10 min.)

Regular foreign service: Ask for a proforma invoice. Books will be sent upon receipt of payment.

12% on the list price of the book total; $7.50 minimum.

We generally ship within 72 hours of receiving orders. Small orders are shipped via Book Post (USPS Media Mail) or Library Rate.

If you need special service (air mail, UPS, or other couriers), the shipping and handling charge maybe somewhat higher than in the schedule above.

Sometimes books are returned to us slightly damaged in shipping or slightly shopworn. If you want to buy them at a 10% discount, please mention this when you place your order. If we have these "bruised" books in stock, we will include them in your order.

To avoid the expense of shipping on approval and examination copies, for most of our books Pro Lingua has put on the web for free the full table of contents (suggesting the scope and sequence of the material), the full introduction/how to use the book, and sample lessons. Please, review this material, print it and evaluate it, and/or try it out with students.

DESK COPIES If requested, we will send one copy of a book upon receipt of an order for ten or more student copies. This is to be used as the teacher's desk copy while teaching. This is not a preview copy.

If you want to see and feel the whole book (and you can't come to one of the conferences we attend), the alternatives are:

Photocopyable resources - Pre-paid
Pro Lingua will be pleased to send single copies of any book for examination and evaluation for 60 days on a pre-paid basis. If you wish to return the materials, pack them carefully and mail them with a copy of your receipt, postmarked within 60 days of the sale date; you pay the return postage.

Text considered for class adoption - with invoice
Teachers wishing to evaluate a text for possible course adoption may order a single copy on behalf of their institution to be sent on approval with an invoice (at the list price plus shipping, net 60 days). An institutional billing address is required. Please mark your order "On Approval."

If you notify us that you are adopting the text, when we get your order for ten or more copies, we will cancel the invoice, and you may keep the book as your desk copy.

To return any book you have on approval for examination and evaluation, send the book postage paid in saleable condition with a copy of the original invoice or receipt. We recommend that you pack it carefully and return it prepaid by UPS or certified mail to provide proof of return delivery. We will credit your account, reimburse your credit card (we will need the number), or send a refund. Books must arrive in saleable condition to receive full credit.

Please consider this: Some of the big publishers give teachers free copies of adoptable texts as an advertising expense. Pro Lingua is very small (see About Us), and we have survived since 1980 and currently offer over 90 reasonably priced books by not giving away free books. Thank you for your patience and understanding. And use the free material we have posted on this site.
